Advanced Application: Traffic and Transport Systems

IDS HIG-LEIT can be used for a variety of applications in the management of traffic and transport systems. In rail transport system, it is used for traction power supply, both in a.c. railway networks (German Rail) and for d.c. railway networks (public local transport). In the event of malfunctions – caused e.g. by worksites – the necessary switchover to substitute cables and feeders can be effected via the control centre.
In inland waterway transportation systems, IDS HIGH-LEIT is used for the monitoring and control of natural and artificial inland waterways. Typical examples are the operation and monitoring of lock and weir systems, as well as the telemonitoring of weirs via webcam.
HIGH-LEIT can also be used for the central monitoring and control of all motorway installations, such as emergency call, video monitoring and traffic control systems, as well as installations in cable and pump stations, bridges and tunnels.
Operators are immediately informed about incidents such as water penetration or defective pipelines/electrical lines and can operate pumps, ventilators, lights or emergency generators etc. via the control system.

Fields of Application

Traction Power Supply
IDS control systems for switchgear installations are used on the h.v. and m.v. level of both a.c. railway networks (German Rail) and d.c. railway networks (public local transport), for the following tasks: switchgear interlocking, local and remote control and the connection of protective equipment and SCADA systems.

Inland Waterway Transport
IDS telecontrol and SCADA systems can be used for the operation and monitoring of natural and artifical inland waterways, including tasks like canal irrigation and lock control.

Motorway Installations
IDS control systems can be used for the central monitoring and control of all motorway installations, including emergency call systems, drainage systems, bridges and tunnels.

Tunnels
IDS systems can also be used for the operation and monitoring of systems and units installed in modern tunnels. They ensure the optimum interaction between all the installations for ventilation, lighting, fire alarm, emergency call, video monitoring, traffic control, medium/low voltage and tunnel radio systems while, at the same time, fulfilling the strictest safety standards.
